Aged care workshops
Helping older Australians feel seen, connected and valued.
Creative social activities that honour experience, reduce isolation and give older people the confidence to share their stories.
More than recreation.
Moving into aged care and living through major life changes can affect confidence, identity and connection. Fiona’s workshops recognise that every social activity has the potential to be therapeutic as well as enjoyable.
Older people bring a wealth of wisdom, experience and advice. Through writing, conversation and creative expression, participants can reconnect with those strengths and share them with others.
What participants can explore
- The power of journalling and storytelling
- Confidence in sharing memories and experiences
- Legacy and the value of a life story
- Resourcefulness and resilience
- Social connection and its effect on mood
- Creative ways to keep the mind active
The Jubilee Wanderers
From a Zoom workshop to a book of treasured stories.
During the pandemic, Jubilee Community Care asked Fiona to run online workshops that would help senior clients feel less isolated. An eight-week introduction to creative writing became sixteen weeks of stories, laughter and encouragement—and eventually a coffee-table book for family and friends.
“Fiona is encouraging and gentle, and our clients are producing wonderful results because of her support.”
